Types Of Extensions

A side return extension widens the ‘outrigger’ of your home to the full width of the property. They are most commonly found on Victorian properties due to their L-shaped footprint, although they can be built on properties from any era. Side return extensions have become hugely popular as they are a cost effective and small-scale project which has a big impact on the space in your home.

Wrap around Extension

Wrap Around Extension

A wrap around extension is essentially a side return extension combined with a rear extension. Not only do they add a significant amount of floor area to your home but the space they create is perfect for open plan living. So, if this is what you want you’re after, a wrap extension may be the best option for you.

Double Storey Extension

Double Storey Extension

Two storey or double storey extensions can be located to the side or rear of a property. These two options can also be combined to create a double storey wrap around extension. The additional space to both ground and first floors can allow for increased living area as well as an additional bedroom. They are most commonly found on semi-detached or detached houses.

As you might assume, side extensions are made to the side of a house, typically into a small alley which runs alongside the house to the garden. These alleys are a feature of many semi-detached houses. The advantage of a side extension is that it adds significantly to the size of your house, without affecting garden space.

As the name suggests, rear extensions project outwards from the rear elevation of your home. They enlarge the space on your ground floor and are ideally suited for kitchens or living areas. Adding bifold doors can provide a fantastic indoor/ outdoor entertainment space for barbeques and parties. Generally, rear extensions are better suited to properties with ample garden
space.

This is a combination of a single storey and a double storey extension. They can be located to the side or rear of a property, or both to create a wrap around. A single and double storey extension can facilitate an open plan kitchen and living area on the ground floor and an additional bedroom on the first.

1. We survey your home

We arrange to carry out a full measured survey of your home. This gives us all the measurements and information we need to move to the next step, ensuring total accuracy and quality for your drawings.
Video Conference

2. Design Meeting

Once we have all the measurements and information we need we will arrange to have a video conference/screen share with you. This will take place at a time of your convenience. It will enable us to work out how to complete the architectural design.
Relax

3. Relax and sit-tight

You can now relax while our expert designers get down to work. We always aim to finish your planning drawings within 14 days, but we can do it more quickly depending on the complexity of your scheme.
Drawings

4. Receive your drawings

We email you PDF Drawings for your approval. Any amendments or corrections be done for free. Our drawings will contain everything you need to obtain planning permission or a certificate of lawfulness including site location plans and evidence of permitted development compliance where appropriate.
